As
of July 3, 2005 The Texas Department of Licensing and
Regulation rules went into effect , designating the 2005
National Electrical Code as the electrical code for the
state of Texas.
The
City of Houston Public Works & Engineering Planning &
Development Services Division is enforcing the 2005
National Electrical Code for all applicable projects for
which a permit application was submitted on or after July 3,
2005.
As
of May 15th, 2002, the Houston City Council voted unanimously
(15 to 0) to adopt the 2000 Uniform Plumbing Code with
addendums. The Council also voted to adopt the 2000 Uniform
Mechanical Code and the International Building Code. The
plumbing, building and mechanical codes will be implemented on
July 15th, 2002. All other code changes took effect
earlier this year.

As
of September 1, 2002, The City of Houston placed into
effect the new 2000 IECC, International Energy
Conservation Code as published by the ICBO. There are
two separate codes that will effect the design of new and
renovated facilities. The IRC chapter 11 for residences and
