The Houston Chapter was established and chartered in 1968. It was organized to serve as a medium in the solution of professional problems pertaining to plumbing engineering as it effects the profession, the community and the general public; to advance the general scientific interests of plumbing engineering profession and inculcate the desire for scientific achievement in the field among the members of the Chapter; to bring about greater cooperation and understanding between the members of the Chapter and local plumbing officials, contractors and the public. Today the Plumbing Engineer is responsible for much more than the supply of potable water and the removal and treatment of sanitary and industrial wastes. The field is challenging and varied, including everything from aeration ponds to zinc plating. Systems such as high purity water, medical vacuum and air, oxygen, helium, ethylene, nitrous oxide, nitrogen, acidic waste collection and neutralization, display fountains and swimming pools, fuel gases, laboratory gases,
storm water, compressed air and fire suppression systems. Plumbing Engineers assist in determining the scope of a project and its anticipated cost. They design many and varied plumbing systems, select suitable equipment, write specifications, evaluate products to find
the most suitable and cost effective equipment for the
project, aid in contractor selection, installation
inspections, troubleshoot existing systems and provide
services to the owner before, during and after construction.
The Plumbing Engineer is a primary and indispensable part of
the design and construction team.
The
Houston Chapter of The American Society of Plumbing
Engineers (ASPE) invites Engineers, Designers, Contactors,
Plumbing Officials, Manufacturing and Sales Representatives
